The Voice recap: A Little Extra Spice

Latinas bring the heat to the final battle round, Usher uses his last steal, and Sarah Simmons continues her reign
Ep. 10 | Aired Apr 23, 2013

IN THE MOMENT Team Adam's Sarah Simmons belts out the notes to Lady Antebellum's "Wanted You More."

Trae Patton/NBC

The song:
"Wanted You More" by Lady Antebellum
The battle: This one is a little too obvious. Adam pairs an unknown Hawaiian with a favorite in the competition. And even though the duo does need coaching when it comes to blending and working together, we all know what's coming next ...
Once in the ring, Sarah does what she does best — she blows the coaches away. Effortlessly flowing from smooth notes to her falsetto and then adding a pleasantly unexpected gruff, Sarah brings down the house. I mean, really. The girl is ridiculous. And while Duncan does a nice job with his part, I have a bit of a problem with how much he smiles during this ballad. Also, I'm not 100 percent convinced he's playing that guitar. However, the duo does share a cute hug after the song, so there's always that.
The verdict: Basically, the judges tell Duncan he can go flirt with some ladies, because Sarah has this battle in the bag. The sweet part? Even Duncan has Sarah picked to win this season, along with what looks to be Usher, Adam, and Blake, who can't stop talking about her after the performance.

*Please pardon the interruption, but it's time to take a break for our speedy recap of the battles that clearly aren't all that great or else they would, you know, show them: For Team Usher, the awkwardly introverted Michelle Chamuel defeats Chelsea M. For Team Adam, Amy Whitcomb beats Agina Alvarez. And for Team Blake, Justin Withers knocks out the Morgan twins. You know, the ones with matching faces AND matching dresses.

Okay, back to your regularly scheduled programming.
