WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY LOST OR STOLEN ITEMS Were Natalie and Nadiya playing the game or playing dirty?
Abbie jeté-ed onto the mat with Ryan for second place, then they plastered pleasant/scary smiles onto their faces were all "Yep, thank you, thank you" as Phil congratulated them. It was as if Abbie had had a Talk with Ryan at the hotel and he was really doing his best to follow her instructions and act gracious. It was weird! These two should take a page out of the Rockers' book. They came in third (ahead of their thieves) and couldn't have been happier. Then again, I've never understood some teams' obsession with coming in first on individual legs. The last leg, yes. And the first leg (this season), yes. But who cares about the rest? How many vacations courtesy of Travelocity do you need? Just try to stay in the race and stay hydrated. For cripes sake.
The Twins finished fourth ("No more Mrs. Nice Twinnies!" Nadiya promised)(!), the Chipmunks fifth, and the very disbelieving and grateful Beekman Boys in sixth. What about Josh's heroics in jumping out of the taxi and directing traffic, eh? That took some Turkey balls! Team Beekman reminded us again -- in case you forgot it from five minutes earlier and five minutes prior to that and last week, etc -- that they don't quit. They don't quit on the farm, and they don't quit on TAR.
And then came the Truckers with the best farewell of the season, and I'm not just saying that because I wanted them gone (As I mentioned last week, I've actually been kind of warming to Rob.). Their goodbye on the mat was just such a tender few moments. There was Kelley's face-crumpling, little girl-esque cry face when Phil said they were eliminated. Then, a great, awkward exchange: "I can tell you're a man with deep sensitivity," Phil said to Rob, though Kelley was already filling in the sentence with "A big heart" instead. OK. But then big Rob took the stage. "Without Kelley I'm nothing," he said. "You might think that I'm this big, strong, bold guy, but I'm so blessed to have this woman in my life and to have somebody love me the way she loves me." "Worth more than a million dollars?" Phil asked. "Way more than a million dollars," Rob replied. And then the man with the big ole heart and his LadyLove danced it out and trucked off with their rolling suitcases for the last time.
Next week: Moscow, missed flights and lost bags. Cannot wait.
