Not a whole lot happens at Tribal Council except Katie keeps talking about how “you want to get to the final 2 with your loved one,” which begs the question: Has Katie even watched this show since her mother was on back in season 2? Does she even realize that they got rid of the final 2 after Terry Dietz was denied a spot in the Survivor: Panama finals, and now they opt for a far less dramatic final 3? Or perhaps it is just the power of positive thinking and she believes she can wish a final 2 back into existence. Sorry, but it doesn’t work like that, Katie. Because believe me, Lord knows I have tried.
So Laura is the one voted out by everybody — even her own flesh and blood! (Although, not, it should be noted, by water. Water abstained.) As I said, I have no issue with Ciera voting out her mom. I’m sure the rest of the tribe probably would have been fine if she had just said “Look, I can’t handle actually writing my mom’s name down, so I’m writing Katie, but I get it and I’m good with it.” However, if she felt too uncomfortable to do even that, then so be it. “I’ll come back for you,” Laura says to her daughter upon having her torch snuffed — although it would have sounded much cooler if it had come out as a threat as opposed to a promise.
The vote wasn’t too shocking. It certainly isn’t as shocking as what comes next, which is seeing Laura’s “final words” after being voted out. Not sure why we see this, considering that in this Redemption Island season we have not been treated to anyone else’s immediate reaction upon being voted out. Not a complaint, mind you. Just an observation.
And I observe that we have now come to the end of yet another Survivor recap. But it is far from the end of your Survivor coverage for the week. Check out my weekly Q&A with hostmaster general Jeff Probst. (You can listen in to our radio interview from last week as well right here.) We also have an exclusive deleted scene from last night’s episode as well as my pre-game interviews with Laura/Ciera and Aras/Vytas in the video player below. And come back Thursday afternoon for our InsideTV Podcast interview with Aras, as I razz him for making me look bad with my prediction. (Then again, don’t my predictions always look bad?) Of course, you can always have all the Survivor scoop delivered right to you by following me on Twitter @DaltonRoss.
Okay, now it’s your turn. Which was worse: Ciera voting out her mom or asking her to lay down in a challenge? Sad to see Aras go? Upset we don’t have more water challenges? Excited for the opportunity to see Jeff Probst’s bacon bits? Hit the message boards to let us know and I’ll be back next week with another scoop of the crispy!
