Meanwhile, last week's runner-up girl and runner-up guy -- Aubrey Cleland and Charlie Askew -- competed in a sing-off to see who will make this summer's American Idol tour. (You can vote on AmericanIdol.com or via the app.)
Aubrey is still soooooooo, so pretty, but her "Out Here On My Own" cover put me to sleep. Charlie's performance of an original tune, "Sky Blue Diamond," was enhanced by a wackily lit piano and some redemption-seeking high notes. Still snoozy for me, but it's just the tour, so it's hard to care. Charlie will probably win the spot in the traveling circus. But oh my. Is that healthy? Oh well. Soldier on, rock god. TURTLE POWER.
Awww, Phillip Phillips! P-funk-squared dropped by in a shaggy cloud of blissful oblivion to accept his quadruple-platinum plaque (has it really only been a year?) from Randy Jackson and sing his new sure-to-be-hit single, "Gone, Gone, Gone." Are people still unhappy with his win? Forgive me for my low standards and lack of musical snobbery -- I just don't see the point, when there's so much reality TV to watch -- but I think Phil is a delight. Dude is cute, can actually sing, and fits right into the folk-pop craze all the cool kids (and their parents) (and their single adult cousins) (and all their goofy friends) are into right now.
Jon Bon Jovi's still got it! Who's with me? In a performance taped last week, Bon Jovi cranked out their new single "Because We Can." Why, you ask? Reread the title. I don't have much to say about this other than I loved the kicky guitar riff in there.
The mayor of Kree Harrison's hometown gave her a key to the city! You're welcome for saving the most important part of the recap for last.
What do you think -- will the rank-reveal help or hurt your interest this season? Had you even heard of The Croods? And are you that shocked that Lazaro's in fourth place?
